If you enjoyed it, you should check out 100 Years of Solitude. It's similar in that it follows a family through their history. It's a great book -- not in my top 10, but definitely in my top 50 of all-time. However there is a mix up at the hospital. So the baby is raised by an average Christian family and he starts to discover his power. The best part of the book is the relationship between the two main characters: The Demon and The Angel.
